China's first 6,000 meters autonomous underwater robot successfully developed

Reporter learned from the Chinese Academy of Sciences on the 2nd, Shenyang Institute of Automation Institute bear "6,000 meters underwater unmanned submersible (AUV) practical transformation" subject through the national task group acceptance. The successful development of China's first 6,000-meter autonomous underwater robot means that China's corresponding technologies and products rank among the most advanced in the world.

The project of "practical transformation of 6,000 meters underwater unmanned cable car (AUV)" was started in 2011 and completed by the end of 2012. In 2013, it was named "Qianlong One". Since 2013, two lake tests and three marine tests have been completed successfully, and two oceanographic applications have been successfully implemented.

Xu Qian Xi, chief researcher of "Qianlong One" and associate researcher of Shenyang Automation Institute and its test team have made breakthroughs in key technologies such as integrated navigation, deep-sea navigation and positioning, placement and playback, and deep sea exploration through continuous improvement and succeeded in developing China's first 6000 meters AUV deep sea practicality equipment, with all independent intellectual property rights.

Based on "Qianlong I", China has for the first time carried out a comprehensive fine survey application of deep-sea near-bottom topography, shallow stratum structure, submarine flow field and marine environmental parameters.

Up to now, "Qianlong One" has divened 122 times in total, and has accumulated 236.5 hours of work in the offshore and has a range of 712 kilometers, obtaining a great deal of acoustic and optical detection data. The maximum depth of 5213 meters, a single submerged work hours to reach 31 hours.

"Qian Long One" has now successfully completed a comprehensive sea trial aboard the "Xiangyang Hong 10" and will conduct a 40th voyage to the ocean in the Southwest Indian Ocean polymetallic sulphide mining area in November this year with the "4,500-meter Deep Ocean Resources Independent Exploration System" task.
